Deep Hydration Restorative Conditioner combines shea butter and macadamia nut oil to deliver measurable hydration and repair. Shea butter reduces moisture loss by up to 80%, while macadamia oil mimics sebum—the scalp's natural moisturizing oil—due to its high palmitoleic acid content. This allows the conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft rather than sitting on the surface.
Formulated for:
• Dry or dehydrated hair that feels brittle or straw-like
• Damaged hair from heat styling, color treatments, or chemical processing
• Coarse or curly hair that needs frizz control and definition

• Shea butter: Reduces hair breakage through high fatty acid content; contains vitamins A and E for scalp health

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from your Daily Renewal Conditioner?
Deep Hydration Restorative Conditioner is formulated for dry or damaged hair that needs intensive moisture repair. It contains shea butter and macadamia nut oil—both heavier emollients that penetrate deeply into the hair shaft. Daily Renewal Conditioner uses sea buckthorn oil and is lighter-weight for frequent use on all hair types, including fine hair. If your hair feels dry, brittle, or damaged, start with Deep Hydration. If you wash daily and have normal-to-fine hair, Daily Renewal is a better fit.
How often should I use this conditioner?
For dry or damaged hair: 2-3 times per week minimum. For severely damaged hair (from bleaching, heat damage, or chemical treatments): every wash. For maintenance after hair health improves: 2 times per week, alternating with a lighter conditioner. Macadamia oil helps restore moisture to the hair shaft and locks it in, so consistent use builds cumulative benefits.
Can I use this on color-treated hair?
Yes. This conditioner is sulfate-free and paraben-free, making it safe for color-treated hair. The shea butter and macadamia oil help seal the hair cuticle, which can extend color vibrancy. Lavender essential oil provides gentle cleansing without stripping color. Many customers use this specifically to repair damage from bleaching or chemical color treatments.
Will this weigh down fine or thin hair?
Possibly. Shea butter can be heavy and make hair flat or greasier if you have thin or oily hair. If you have fine hair, apply this conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots and scalp area. Start with a small amount (dime-sized for shoulder-length hair) and add more only if needed. If your hair feels weighed down, switch to Daily Renewal Conditioner or use Deep Hydration once weekly as a treatment rather than your regular conditioner.
How do I use this conditioner?
After shampooing, squeeze excess water from hair. Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, focusing on the driest areas. For damaged hair, gently work the conditioner through with fingers or a wide-tooth comb to ensure even distribution. Leave on for 2-3 minutes (or up to 5 minutes for intensive treatment). Rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticle. For extremely dry hair, you can leave a small amount in the ends as a leave-in treatment—use about 1/4 of your normal amount and don't rinse.
What does this smell like?
Lavender essential oil—herbaceous and calming, not floral-sweet like synthetic lavender fragrance. The scent is noticeable during application but subtle after rinsing. It's not an aromatherapy-strength lavender scent; it's present but not overpowering.
Can I use this as a deep conditioning mask?
Yes, but Griffin Remedy makes a dedicated Restorative Hair Mask that's formulated specifically for intensive treatment. This conditioner can be used as a light mask by applying generously and leaving on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. For severely damaged hair or monthly deep conditioning treatments, the Restorative Hair Mask will deliver stronger results.
What's MSM and why is it in this formula?
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is an organic sulfur compound. Sulfur is a building block of keratin, the protein that makes up hair structure. MSM supplementation is thought to support keratin production and may improve hair strength over time. It's included in many Griffin Remedy formulas as a hair-strengthening ingredient. While research on topical MSM for hair is limited, it's considered safe and is commonly used in natural hair care products.
Is this conditioner safe for curly hair / the Curly Girl Method?
Yes. This conditioner is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and contains no silicones or drying alcohols. Macadamia oil is especially popular for curly hair because it helps restore moisture to the hair shaft and makes curly hair easier to untangle. The shea butter provides slip for detangling. However, check the full ingredient list if you follow strict Curly Girl Method rules—some practitioners avoid certain ingredients like coconut-derived surfactants (coconut fatty acid cream base is listed).
